Midweight Videographer

Salary: £35,000 pa

Location: London/Hybrid

What we are looking for:

We’re on the lookout for a creative and enthusiastic Midweight Videographer to join our growing team. This is a fast-paced, collaborative role, best suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to push the boundaries of social content.

This role leans heavily into editing (80%) over filming (20%), so we’re looking for someone with a keen eye for storytelling, a strong sense of pace, rhythm and tone in post-production, and a deep understanding of what makes engaging content for digital and social platforms. You’ll be editing from a mix of feature film, gaming and in-house filmed footage, creating high-quality short and long-form content for social media and digital campaigns. The right candidate will be passionate about creating scroll-stopping content and bringing energy and flair to every frame. On the filming side, you’ll support the capture of featurettes, behind-the-scenes, premiere red carpets, influencer activations, events, and promotional content — often in high-pressure or quick turnaround environments. A knowledge of applicable cameras, lighting and sound equipment will therefore be a must. We predict this role to be a 80/20% mix of editing and filming in favour of editing. This is a collaborative, hands-on position where a proactive attitude and strong communication skills go a long way. You’ll work closely with producers, creatives and designers across projects — this role will require client-facing experience at times — and will have opportunities to grow your skills and contribute creatively.

Our recruitment process

We want to keep things simple and we have a 3 stage interview process

Once you apply for a role at Substance, we’ll review your details and if they match what we are looking for, we aim to contact you within a week. Unfortunately, as we are a small team, we are unable to reply and provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates at this stage

Once you are selected, you will have an initial call with either our HR team or the hiring manager to drill down on your skills and experience

We are an inclusive team, so please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments to support you through the interview process.

If successful, you will have another call with other team members where we will also assess your situational behaviours. For some roles, the second stage would involve working on a specific task

The last stage will involve a call or a meeting in the office with the extended hiring team and, depending on the role, with the management team. If you were assigned a task in the previous stage, you will be able to present this back to the team.

If successful, you will receive our offer at this stage.

We will also contact all unsuccessful candidates involved in the different stages and provide some relevant feedback.

Our People Pledge

Don’t meet every single requirement?

Research shows that women and people of colour are less likely than others to apply if they don’t match 100% of the job requirements. Don’t let the confidence gap stand in your way, we’d love to hear from you! We understand that experience comes in many difference forms and are dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team.

Substance Global is committed to providing and fair, inclusive, and diverse work-environment. We believe that different perspectives lead to better ideas, and better ideas allow us to better understand the needs and interests of our diverse, global community with who we work. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives and are an equal opportunities employer.
